Project Topic: Echoes of the Flood

This project merges the themes of audio engineering education and the uncontrollable force of natural disasters, specifically historic floods. The cassette cover features abstract visual elements inspired by audio waveforms distorted as if submerged underwater, symbolizing both the technical complexity of sound manipulation and the chaos wrought by flooding. It serves as a playful yet eerie artifact that captures the ephemeral nature of sound and disaster, reminding viewers of how environments—and the sounds within them—can be transformed or erased. This emerged from combining the precise, structured world of audio production from the Institute of Audio Research with the unpredictability and disruption caused by severe flooding in Washington.
