This zine experimentally plays with the idea of disrupted communication and transformation by merging the molecular structure shifts of graphane’s conformers with the narrative of MAVEN’s lost signal behind Mars. Each fold transforms the imagery and text, mimicking the alternating hydrogen configurations and the temporary blackout of signal transmission. The project explores instability and transition in both microscopic chemical landscapes and cosmic space operations, creating a tactile metaphor for disconnection and reconfiguration. It emerged from connecting graphane’s fluctuating molecular forms and the unpredictable loss of data from a distant spacecraft.
